I have on 05 Accord with 173,000 miles. I've had the car for the last 25,000 miles. I change the oil at 7,500 miles. The previous owner had the spark plugs and wires changed at 130,000 miles. I've changed out the air filter, cleaned out the throttle body and all at 165k ish...

The other day the maintenance light came on. Why is that? i thought it was for changing the engine oil.

 

Have you been re-setting the light when it comes on or when you do service to the car?

When was the last oil change? Is is possible that someone forgot to re-set it at that time. Anyway, get the maint codes and be sure the items it is suggesting are up to date. Re-set the maint reminder light and call it a day.

i never get the maintenance light after i reset it the first time i got the car.

i never had the light go on me, so didn't have anything to reset when i did the oil changes.

I can't remember if the 05 has a maintenance schedule where is says service 1, 2, 3, etc. at a certain mileage. You'll have to look in your owners manual to find out how to get the code. I think it would display on the odometer, or somewhere on the cluster..

The maintenance light may turn on every 7500 miles after it was last reset. The owner's manual will tell you how to reset this light.

 

The Maintenance Minder was added to Accord with the 06 models. The 05 Accord maintenance schedule is based on time/distance as recommended in the owner's manual.
