Default NEED HELP 1996 accord 2.2 vtec

I have a 1996 honda accord lx 2.2 vtec, well my motor **** to bed so i figured id order a jdm 2.2 vtec when i bought it, said 94-97 accord figured it would work well didnt do enough research and found out after the fact and recived a 94 or 95 (OBD1) that the CKP was in the Distr. not on the crank. oops. well I tried wiring into my harness to the Distr. well I have the motor in and it just pops and farts wont run sounds like timing, tried playin around with the Distr. and no luck. So my question is do I need a OBD1 ECU and a jumper harness or did I make a major screw up and its not going to work at all? there both F22B1. Any Help would be appreciated thank you.

Have you tried retrofitting your CKP from old engine to the replacement? This would allow use of original distributor and existing wiring harness.

good luck

not yet but i did take the crank pulley off and the black plastic covers off and did take a look at how the CKP is set up on my 96 but unless the 94-95 engines have the spot on the block where the sensors mount to it wont work but if they are there it will but i havent pulled the 94-95engine back out until i got a little more feed back hate doing things 2 or 3 times so if anyone knows if that would work leme know

You can wire up the distributor to work correctly, its a pain and will take a lot of research to figure out what wire goes where.

I'd try to figure out if you can mount the OBD2 sensors on the engine.

Welcome....be sure the map and tps wires didn't get switched....What are the colors of the three wires on the map sensor?

Pretty sure if something with the crank sensor was up you'd be getting a code.
