ORIGINAL: 6thgen
Take it to an automotive interior shop, they may be able to repair it for a decent price...if not then atleast the quote was free.

RE: Tear in my seat
Hi Kristen:
You can find a vinyle/Leather repair kit in most auto parts store like AuoZone, Advance or PepBoys.
The kit is a mix and match your colour product, Ive seen it used by one of my younger brothers many times and it does a good job.
So go to one of those kind of stores and ask for they're help and Im sure they will go get it for you.

RE: Tear in my seat
first - you can repair it in any interior shop - as the seats are tailored from pieces they can repair and tailor in another good piece. The prices are vary but having new leather piece tailored is 40-60$ more expensive than putting vynil one. I dont think theres much difference in color ( but leather is much stronger and softer ) Also labor is quite costy - I beleive that would be around $200 to fix that in a shop - marina, yacht shops do that kind of work.
now about the kit wheel broker mentioned - its pretty good idea, it depends on how bad your tear is, i think it can patch up to 2 inches tear, I used one on my back seat - had 1 inch tear, I was surprized - it's not like it looks brand new but it hold quite tight and prevents it from tearing even more.
So yes I would try that first - costs around 7-10 $ bucks , local auto/hardware store
P.S> making sociological study here - just guessing who told you to ducktape it?? was it a guy or a girl?? I say - girl ! am i right?
