Default 20" wheels

Hey, I have a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L 4 cyl. My commute to work is aboutan hour and a half and it's highway for 90% of the drive.

I want to get some 20" wheels but I'm afraid of hurting my gas mileage, speedometer error, and quality of ride. I'm probably going to get a forged aluminum chrome wheel since they're much lighter than a cast aluminum wheel.

I'm looking at the Lorenzo WL12 in chrome (20x8.5) with a 225/30/20 tire. The tire that is recommended seems a little too "lo pro" for my taste so I would probably get a little bigger tire; not much bigger but something in a 40 series.

I also want your opinion on a good quality tire. I've ran Hankooks in the past and liked them. I know Michelin just bought a 20% share in their company so that can't be a bad thing.

I'd buy Michelins but they are just sooooo expensive. I want something that will wear evenly and provide good ride quality without costing more per piece than the wheels!

Thanks for your replies!

Bump,

By the way...

Do the Honda HFP 19" wheels fit the 4-cyl. model? I've read that it only fits the V6 but I wouldn't think it would make a difference if it has the same bolt pattern and offset.

For daily driving, i suggest 19" wheels. It wont hurt your ride quality or gas mileage as much as 20's. And the tires wont be as expensive. I suggest Falken FK452's for whatever size you get. I am running them on both my cars and love them

I agree with the JMan here...the 20's are just to darn expensive to play with..not much rubber between you and the road either...

I have 20's on my with a 245/35/20 tire and there is so much room its not even funny. I wouldn't go with a 225/30, look at my pics in my profile. I have not noticed a decrease in gas mileage, and if there is a decrease, it is so little that i cant tell. Ride did get a little rougher, but you would expect that with such big wheels. People dont believe me when i tell them that they are 20's. Look at all the wheel gap i have.

Another thing, I can make full U-turns. There is no rubbing whatsoever. My wheels are 20x7.5 ALT 296 blades wrapped in Kuhmos.

Price wise, my Kuhmos were $109 a tire on tirerack.com. The car is driven daily and i've put about 1,500 miles on the car with the 20's with no problems at all. The TPMS senors also work fine. They fit my new wheels without any modification. Flynn's tire did the mounting and balancing. They switched the TPMS for free.

20"s should work just fine, I have 22"s on mine and only noticed about a 4mph drop on the spedo at hwy speeds and mpg didn't change much at all. The only thing I had to do was add spring spacers to the front because I had a slight rub when I ran through dips on the hwy.

^ The front shot just looks weird with those 22's but the shot from the rear looks nice. I am not brave enough to roll 22's though, on anything
