What exactly is the material in my "leather" seats? I have a spot on my driver side at the waist level on the front outside seam that is opening up like pleather would do. What the heck is going on?

I brought this to the attention of my local dealer and they are going to do a one time courtesy replacement of my seat cover.

I do have 85K miles on my car, but have taken VERY good care of it. I use 303 leather cleaner and conditioner on my interior. I am so shocked (disappointed) at the quality of materials used today.
