I've got stock lights right now and i've been reading other forums who say that just placing new HID bulbs in your regular housing is illegal. but if you have the right projectors and what not you can get away with it. does any one have any experience on this and tell me what i need to get?

 

While it is technically illegal to have HIDs in a car that didnt come with them stock(projectors or not), I haven't really heard of anyone getting in trouble for them. I personally have put HIDs in all my cars and haven't had an issue passing inspection and driving in 7+ states. This includes Massachusetts which is probably the strictest of any state car modification wise.

All you need to do is order the kit in your bulb size and put them in.

 

i know here in NC that you dont get bothered unless they are too blue or any other color really. Same in FL...i have 6000k HID and got pulled in FL b/c the cop said it looked too blue. got it dropped b/c its "diamond white" but regardless...if you dont have colored ones you should be ok i would think.

 

Yes it is technically illegal but no idiot is gonna fail you on inspection because you have HIDs.. seriously.. you're also not going to get pulled over unless your HIDs are pink or green.. that's just dumb and asking to get pulled over..

besides for all those that argue HIDs don't belong in free form housings, well last I checked the stock 98-02 TL and RLs came with HIDs and free form housings straight out of the factory..
