Default Baking Headlights

I have a black 04 accord coupe and i was thinking about painting the headlights black. some people I know that have done it before had to bake the headlights to loosen up the plastic to take off the clear plastic cover to paint, but some have said that their headlight covers were just clipped in, so Im wondering if anyone knows about how the headlights on 03-07 are assembled and if i do need to bake them, what to do..ive been told various temperatures for various times so if anyone can help that would be great.

No idea.

For my tail lights I just left them in the oven for 7 minutes @ 250. But had to put them in for a few more minutes.

The headlights have clips over top of the silicone sealant.

Put them in the oven dead cold, and turn the heat to about 300 and leave them for about 10 mins to let them gradually heat up, prevents damage, trust me, seen them go bad. Use a pair of heat-resistant mitts to pull of the clips and slowly pull apart the plastic bits, refrain from using plyers because, you could warp up yer headlights, and then what? If they dont pull apart right away, just put them back in, 2 mins now is better then no lights later. Just reverse the directions when putting back together.

hope dis helps!!

When I sealed up my tail lights, I didnt clip them and rebake them. Instead, I just used clear silicone/RTV. I don't have any leaks or issues w/ them fogging up.

I hate baking lights... I've ruined one and that was one too many. Any other lights I open up are heated just on the sealant with a heat gun.
