Default fender bender...literally

so out of anger a couple weeks ago when my car was having problems running/starting i kicked the fender... made a big dent in it... any suggestions on how to bump it back out? like would it hurt if i took the fender off, laid it on some towels so it wouldnt hurt the paint, and pound it back out with a rubber mallet? if thats a bad idea... whats some other approaches you may suggest me to do besides taking it to the body shop.... not a big spender on stuff that could be done myself.

I'd try pounding it out myself first, and use a body shop as the 2nd step if necessary.

No I mean like carbon fiber your whole car(like a stealth bomber) so much that where ever you drive people will be calling in terrorist attacks.

take it off and use a rubber mallet, sometimes it's handy/easier to have a 6" piece of a 2x4 (wood) and put that on the dent and pound on the wood... it's worth a shot if you can't do it then pay someone to do it or see if you can find a new fender in a junk yard for cheap...
