Default How are door moldings attached?

Hey everyone, Just wondering how the door moldings are attached on a 94-97? They look like they are just "glued" on? I have to take one off the drivers front door and put it back on. I noticed on the edge of the door on the inside there is a hexagon type plastic thing that is attached to the door molding? Is that just to align it on the door? Thanks.
