Default How to remove broken taillight assembly from 2004 Accord Sedan

Hail broke my taillight on my 2004 Accord. I purchased a new housing, but cannot figure out how to replace the unit. Currently I have pulled the access port in the trunk and removed the nuts around the lights themselves. I have also loosened the carpeting to access more of the light, but still cannot figure what is holding the light in.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You're not going to like this answer

Here are the steps from Honda shop manual (2003-2007).

1) Remove rear bumper (reference to body section)
2) Open trunk and remove trunk side trim panel (reference to body section)
3) Disconnect electrical connectors from taillights.
4) Remove bulbs

I looked at bumper removal and it did not look too bad. Problem is it's easy to scratch/damage the bumper w/ this operation. It's almost a two man job.

Suggest dropping the $100 for a shop manual, or check online for detailed guidance.

good luck

thanx for the info. I did buy a manual for the car, and did not believe I needed to remove the rear valance for light removal. Thanks for confirming the undesirable.
