I bought two black light car kits and Im going to put them in, they come with ciggarette lighter plug in things, can i just split those and hook this up to the LED bulb and make it so they come on when i turn on my lights?

I did it with LED bars for my girlfriends car and it works, but im not sure about the cig lighter adapter being cut and split though.....Any opinions?

 

Im sure theres gotta bepos/neg wires inside that cig lighter plug in. If you split it you could be able to splice into the headlight wire. I have gauges that i had to splice into to make them turn on with the headlight switch. I think the wire your looking for in your car is the red one because it has 12V coming out when headlights are turned on. How much did you pay for those anyway?

 

take apart the cig adapter first and make sure there isnt a transformer or something inside of it.
If not, your OK for just cutting and splicing the wires.
if there is a transformer/etc, it will be a little more difficult, not impossible though.

 

Run the lights into a toggle switch. Easiest way and looks cleaner

 

i have them installed now - i just spliced the wires and hook them up to the LED light in my Cig lighter, it works fine, and i dont need an on and off switch because they have them built into the lights them selves.

And i bought them at spencers for like 12 bucks a peice, and they have intercolor changeable bulbs, they look nice.

yeah man they are worth it but the only hard thing is, dont use adhesive spay - it sucks, ive used it in the past and it bonds plastic for crap....

Use double sided adhesive tape, make the sure they area is very clean and they wont ever fall off, and FYI: The bulbs come in red and black - i was going to get red aswell, but the only sell them in pairs (one black - one red) for 19.99 so i tried them out befor i bought them, and i think red would be brighter so ifi was you, buy two of the set ( good incase one burns out aswell) and make sure you hook the two lights up to the LED Ring, on your cig lighter, not the actualy cig lighter.
