Okay that video just made my day!

You say power amplifier, I say relay. A relay would let the original wiring turn the lights on and off, but the lights would draw all of their power directly from the battery.

The guy in that video mustve bought those... that would be far too difficult to set up an LED matrix like that. I'm sure theres over 1500 leds in each section of those lights (4500 total)

You connect the two wires that go to the bulb now, connect a power wire, and then a ground wire and boom, it works.

I'm still debating if I want to wire each LED individually or in circuits of 5 or something... individually is the most tiem consuming, but if an LED burns out then you're safe. Either way, theyll most likely all need resistors.

so each one will need a resistor
dats alot of time consuming there
yea i was thinking the same thing each one will take forever but if u dont go den yea hard..
i have alot of time in my hands so its ok..

how bout if u buy dem set up wit a wire already a lil more money but less time to waste?

Do a resistor to each, you don't want to over load them and you want your circuit to be reliable. It's going to be a lot more difficult than you think to lay all those LEDs and resistors out and make it look good. Since your tail lights are small like mine were, I would get wide angle flux LEDs, you can use less and they will look much better. I did just this on a 2001 suburban I used to have, I have pics of it done but not the process. I've got to find the memory stick with those pictures.

EDIT: Since this is your first time expect to spend several hours building it, and several hours trying to get it to work. Unless your extremely neat and OCD your going to make mistakes your first go. And there is going to be a lot going on and you have to really understand how it works for you to be able to understand what your looking at.

Thanks too fat...
yea im looking at that wide angle
but still tryint to understand how wide like 100* 120*
or how powerful dey need to b like 20ma or 40ma 60ma
or the if 1000mcd or 1800 or what so im reading up...
yea kinda ocd in a way so i make diagrams or sketches perks of graffing wall for fun...(legally)

how many per role or if i will go over da voltage or wattage of wat im working wit

some of wat i ask myself...

of and wat size to get 3mm 5mm
