Default paint "chrome" window trim

first post, long time reader

been working on a semi-blackout thing for awhile now, and am finally getting to the "chrome" window trim. quotations bc the chrome is actually polished aluminum.
anyways, thinking ill mask everything off, scrape it up, then go to town w some matte black auto finish spraypaint i picked up from autozone.
i would just remove them but a fellow hah owner told me theyre attached to the frame and bend upon the slightest removal efforts.
thoughts, suggestions, bad idea?
hopefully i get it done tomorrow before nightfall. i can post pics if someone is interested.

Just leave em on, mask everything aroun it at least 1 newspapers width, use some comet cleaner, with SOS pad, rinse and scrub with soapy towel, let dry completely, if you have a shop vac that can blow air use it to get the water from behind it, I would suggest doing 3 coats waiting 1-3 hours in between! Please do post pics!

Can't put pics from my tablet, but I'm almost done. Got dark so I'll do the last coat tomorrow. Also did the emblems. Matte black btw

Paint on the polished alum normally does not work.

I sprayed my trim with black plastidip first then painted.

it worked perfectly.
