Default Tint and Radio

Hi, I am a newbie since I just bought the car today. I was wondering if anybody has had issues with their radio reception after tinting their windows. I just got rid of my audi and since the antenna was built into the rear window I barely got reception after tinting my windows. I haven't had time to look into the antenna location, but am assuming it is built into the window on my 04 accord coupe as well. Any help would be great. I read that most tint is mettalic based and that a carbon based tint is also available that doesn't effect radio reception. For a substantial cost of course. I have to get my windows tinted soon and thought I would look into this before I do it. Thanks again for any help.

Mine were tinted the same week I bought it. No change in the radio reception at all. 3M tint was used.

I thought I was getting bad reception from being near mountains, I guess it could be the tint.

3m is great it is non metallic based and wont affect radio waves at all. and that includes cell phones too

Default RE: Tint and Radio - I Need Some SUGGESTIONS

Damn I am having the exact same problem. I just tinted the windows on my 2006 coupe a month ago (limo tint in the back) and I have noticed a definite reduction in reception quality - just for AM though, not FM. I wish I would have known about this before tinting. I had no idea. My last car had an external antenna so the tinting didn't cause any problems. I do like listening to AM radio sometimes so I don't know what to do. Its not like the reception is that bad, but if anyone has any suggestions - external antennas, different type of tint - please let me know! Thanks a lot

the thing you have to keep in mind, everything effects AM radio but technically the tint shouldnt effect that reception unless you put the tint on the outside of the car but AM generally sucks unless your close to the transmitter
