Default Tint regulations

I live in Minnesota and the tint law is at 50%, even though the factory tint level is around 20%. Has anyone gotten pulled over with 20% tint? Depending on your states current regulations. I'm just curious if it is even worth the risk. Since 50% tint is just a waste, and I'd rather not even get any tint if people are getting pulled over frequently.

Thanks.

I'm in St. Paul and just had my windows tinted to 35% last Saturday, no issues with the cops yet. I see a lot of tint in the city, a lot of it darker than mine and I don't think they get hassled too much.

If you do decide to get tint, I highly recommend Darkdan's Window Tinting in Owatonna. His prices start out at $220 for 5 windows and basic film. His website is hurricanetint.com, shoot him an email for an estimate and an appointment. If you're a member of MNHondas.com he'll knock the price down to $190, he's very thorough and worth the drive south!

each city and state are different. IL just changed their rules, but for the past 5 years my windows were illegally tinted (no tint allowed on front windows, all of mine somewhere around 30%). I have never been bothered by the cops, but I don't really look like trouble anyway. now, IL allows 35% front and rear, or <35% rear.

for most areas, you can tint your rear windows without a problem. if you tint the front two windows, that varies legally. best thing to do with tint; if you get pulled over, roll down all four windows and keep your hands on the wheel. increase the confidence of the cop, and you'll be treated better.

Oh alright well i'll have to look into it. And yeah i've seen people with well under 50%. I'm just thinking 20% on a black car might stick out. I'm not sure. And it probably doesn't help that i'm 16. May lead to more suspicion if i were to get pulled over for tint. I was just curious if anyone was. I've heard people say they have and were getting fined per window. SO that's worried me.

^how you look does make a difference. once you go gray and receding, you get left alone.

always know the rules, even if you decide to break them.

Haha that's true. Although maybe the tint would prevent that XD

Well here's my black Accord with 35% all around:

It looks darkest at sunrise/sunset... I have found myself rolling down the front windows when passing cops though... no hassling yet.

I bought the car tinted like this, i honestly have no idea what the % is, but i believe it's close to 35%. it's slightly reflective though, not dark black.

For 35% that doesn't look too bad. I guess it's just in the middle between dark tint and none. It'd probably be safe to go 35%. It's just tempting to go the full 20%.
