Default 01 EX factory stereo

I'm new here but this forum looks great.

I've been telling my wife I would do something with the factory stereo system in her 2001 EX Coupe sense we got it. I've done nothing. We would like to keep the factory head unit with its handy big buttons and nifty dials (makes me sound old) but don't know if just speakers will help much. I've read that we would get better soundbut with less volume. Volume is not a big deal it just seams like the factory speakersproducepretty subpar sound dirty/noisy. Is a set ofreplacement speakers going to make much difference with factory power going to them. I experienced many stereo upgrades in my younger days but would like for this unit to remain OEM looking.

Thanks

Well it kind of depends on how much sound and or what type music you listen to. Replacing the factory speakers is never a bad idea since most of the mid grade speakers come with tweeters and better bass responses, therefore giving you a better range of sounds. I've notices in older Accord models, the speakers suffered with producing good highs, not sure if its the case with your year though. My preferred brands are Pioneer.

I looked at Crutchfield and they only show one 6x9 that will fit the rear deck and it's a pretty high priced one at that. It seems like there would be enough room for about any 6x9. Am I in left field here??
Thanks

Yeah, I noticed! Well you might want to run to a local best buy or circuit city and take a look at the speaker themselves (thats what I usually do before I purchase online). Im sure there are plenty of other 6x9's out there that will fit instead of JUST those Infinity's! So really no your not in left field
