Default 06 Accord Sedan - Speakers behind vents?

Greetings all,

I'm trying improve the sound system in my girlfriends 06 accord. Nothing loud, nothing obtrusive, nothing that would warrant theft. I just replaced the door and back deck speakers, and put an alpine power pack in. Later I'll do some sound deadening.

So, I was looking to inexpensively and unobtrusively improve the sound stage and quality. I'm open to ideas, but I was considering some 2" behind the side air vents. Bad idea? Are there better ideas out there?

putting the 2" in the factory dash tweeter locations would improve your sound stage height - bandpass from 400Hz - 6kHz and let the tweeters handle higher than 6kHz. this means you'll need new locations for the tweeters - as close to the 2" mids as possible.

no one is going to steal your 2" mids or tweeters. the Alpine head unit is the thing they'll steal, if anything.

Thank you for the reply. I'll cut away so we can make them fit. That would definitely help bring the sound stage up.

you can play around with the locations before you cut. just using non-hardening modeling clay is great for mock-ups.
