Default 2004 Accord Radio troubles

I've been having this problem with my 2004 Accord LX automatic for a few months now. The sound just cuts out for no rhyme or reason. When it began, the sound would just become deafening static. I would simply turn the radio off and on and it was fine. After some time, that no longer worked. It would continue static after I turned the radio back on or there was no sound at all. But the display always works fine, as if the radio were on. Still now sometimes the radio works fine. Sometimes I get the static. Other times I hear a pop or crackle and then no sound.
At times, the act of turning the radio on or off solves the problem. Sometimes the radio works again after a few minutes, hours or even a day or so at this point.
This issue happens with both the radio and CD player. It happens when I driving. It happens when I'm stopped at a traffic signal. Again, no rhyme or reason as to when it decides to stop working. Any ideas what can be the cause?

id guess its a thermal issue but that doesnt explain the static. so its probably a loose connection (or a short) inside the stereo. check the ground wire and if you cant figure it out take it to a shop or replace it.

Suggest checking car-part.com for a used radio to match yours. I found basic radio for 4dr sedan around $75.

good luck

Had it checked out this week and was told the radio went bad. Just finished putting in an after market radio.

I had a problem with my radio. I found a recall on it and took it to the dealer and they changed it out no charge. The recall is up sometime in 2011. Its worth checking into. My radio went blank. I could hear it but I could not see to set stations or the heat Etc.

Smile solution for the radio problem!

I found a interesting find; by replacing the fuses in the cabin with new ones for most of the fuses with wear of tarnish on them, solved my static and pop sound & black outs. Hope this is helpful for others.
