I’m having the same trouble in my 2005 accord DX,
Was wondering if I put in an aux adapter and just play music from my phone if that would work or if I would still hear that pop and cutting out sound?

Hey everyone,

My girlfriend has an 05 accord LX with a completely stock radio in it. Pretty regularly now while she's listening to the radio, the speakers will let out a large popping noise and the radio will shut off. When she turns it back on, there's no audio. So she screams a curse word and shuts it off...

20 minutes later she'll hit the ON button again and the radio will work. BUT, sometimes it wont... sometimes it's 3 days without a functioning radio.

It's been improving her vocal skills because now she has to sing her songs... but other than that it's been a real headache..

anyone have any ideas? She took it to honda and they said they went through the wiring and didn't find any shorts or anything, and then told her it would be 600 dollars to replace her radio and that that might not even be the problem.

any ideas?

has anyone found a solution to this issue? my 05 lx is doing the exact same thing - loud pop, no sound but display is fine. turning the radio off and back on was working a few weeks ago but now it's happening more frequently and the power off-on no longer works. an audio guy said it's most likely the amp and it's probably cheaper to replace the unit completely. If that's the case, what would be a good in-dash replacement with GPS? thanks in advance.

Same thing happening on my 04 accord lx. I had an aux in module installed for several years. Honda suggested that module may be going bad. Disconnected it and the problem remains. If no one has figured out how to fix the issue I will be taking it to Honda most likely this week and will report what I find.

I had an aux in there too. This could be the common thread that's making these radios go bad but I highly doubt it. can others verify?

as for solution, i'm putting an aftermarket unit in the storage bin. :-/

I don't know if I can name them - is there a ban on advertising on the forum? Anyhoo, if you Google "Honda radio repair Garland TX" you'll find them...worked for me!

I've been having the SAME problem!! It started about 6 months ago. It will pop real loud, I turn it off. sometimes it will come right back on, sometimes I have to bang on the face for it to work. Turn it on/off/on/off. So frustrating! Anyone have any ideas?

I had similar problem.....took radio unit out of the dashboard....removed oxidation and re-soldered cold joints in PCB....and it is working well

Thanks for sharing. Did you take any pictures during the process? Can you be more specific what part of the circuit needed cold joints corrected? I would have tried the same as you if I had one of these cars.

Attached is the picture of bad soldering joints.....I resoldered most of the parts of the board for.... plus removed oxidation (yellowish type color in solder joints) which was almost everywhere in the board

I have been having this EXACT problem for about two years, but it is progressively getting worse and is now basically unbearable. In reading through this thread, I am having trouble finding a consensus solution.

I have a 2012 Accord.
