Default Aux input for 06 JDM Accord/Acura TSX

any help's appreciated..

i'm using a 2006 Accord JDM (or Acura TSX in the US) and need some help on the stock HU.
i want to be able to play my iPod via the aux input which i know exists because there's a CD/Aux button on the HU. i've been browsing through various forums and right now it seems like i need a converter (SN3Hond and the like). my car is non-navi equipped and only plays single CD (no changer).

so before i decide to take the plunge, i need to clarify some things..

1. WHERE exactly is the Aux input in the 2006 Accord JDM (Acura TSX) and what do i need to remove (if any) to access it?

2. I've heard using the converter disables the XM radio. What is XM radio exactly? And why would Honda place a prominent Aux button on the HU if using it meant disabling the XM radio??

(i'll be happy to post a pic of the dash if anyone needs it)

thanks in advance ppl!

Hmm...the guys here are pretty knowledgable, but you may want to try an Acura forum as well. In either event, I know that for the Accord, you have to buy an adapter to be able to use the AUX input.

A quick google search netted me this:

I have thought about doing the same thing for my Accord, and I probably will, but its too damn cold right now to even think about it. Best of luck!

Hi smaglik,

tks for the advice..will check out other acura forums, though i suspect the TSX and Accord are built in pretty much the same way since its only the outer body shell that's different.

just out of curiosity, where's the aux input located in the US Accord and how is it accessed?

thanks!

I am really not sure where it is. I havent installed the device yet, but I think it taps into the back of the radio. Depending oh now creative you are, and the length of your mini-stereo cable, you could probably install the aux just about anywhere.

um..unfortunately i'm not quite sure i know what you're referring to by creating an aux port.
as far as i know, there's a proprietary jack Honda built (this white 14 or 16 pin plug) that sits somewhere behind the radio console.

so unfortunately, there's no standard jack i can buy off a hardware shelf and therefore a need for one of those converters i keep reading about (SN3HOND ICELINK etc). again unfortunately, i doubt these converters are available where i live (singapore) so i'm kinda in a pickle heh.

unless i'm able to find one of these converters locally (shipping would kill me if i bought it online), i think i've lucked out and am stuck with an FM transmitter. (sigh..)
