carputers are very cool. nice work. some build pics would be great to see, any wiring diagrams, etc. parts lists, equipment diagrams, information so others could do the same thing.

I knew a guy from school years ago. He had a computer hooked up in his trunk just to have all his music. That was before mp3 players. lol. Nice work man. looks good.

Thats neat, but technology has come along way since then:
i used google's voice recognition to search for music / videos / addresses, make phone calls, send text messages, almost anything.

I may build a carputer one day, or just integrate a tablet pc. I mostly want to access a HDD for .wav music files. Integrated pandora, Bluetooth, google, 3G/4G,
etc. would be a bonus.

i think the .wav file format is bigger then .mp3 but then again you could try a smaller compression format then mp3.

if your interest in just music... get a old psp and upgrade the memory to a 8 gig, then turn the music into acc format which i think its double the compression of .mp3

Want uncompressed music. I use original CD's with my 1bit Alpine head unit. Compression is audible and not desired after all the time I have spent on my system. I am careful to not burn CD's from compressed music. I own 400+CD's and rip them in .wav, though I also rip them as 320kbps mp3 for use on portable music players. For car or home playback, .wav or FLAC are acceptable.

I also want at least 320GB of storage. I want it to remember my position and track lists. I want touch screen with album art and wifi connectivity. I don't want a Microsoft based OS. Probably Linux.
