Default GTA iPhone kit causing bad FM reception

I have a 2003 Accord LX and i finally ordered a GTA Car Kit iPhone adapter to plug into the aux wiring connection on the bottom of the radio. The radio is a single CD with no XM, CD changer or navigation. The installation is really easy with their YouTube video.
My problem is that as soon as I plug the GTA kit wiring harness into the plug on the radio the FM reception gets bad. It is like I am suddenly near the edge of the radio transmission range. If I unplug the harness the reception is back. Now granted the reception isn't that great to begin with but there is a noticeable difference when the kit is plugged in and when it is not.
The kit works great and the sound from my phone using the iPhone 15 pin jack is great, it is just the radio reception.
I drove with it for almost a week thinking maybe it was sunspots or something else causing the problem but when it didn't improve on its own I contacted the company and they offered to take it back and send me a new one. I just got the new one today and its the same thing.
I've looked all over and can't find anyone having a similar problem. I'm hoping someone here can help me because I really like the kit and want to keep it, but not at the expense of the FM reception.

link to the kit you used?

did you unplug the antenna or route the antenna wiring through the kit and it's not being passed through? looks like the kit intends to just use one of the unused plugs on the back of the radio, you should not be unplugging anything that is already there.

what input do you put the radio on to hear the iphone? do you just press CD again?

one option is to put a toggle switch in-line with whatever wire the kit has that is causing the issue. giving you manual control.
