Default How do I replace 2008 Accord stereo on/off-volume switch

Audio Power On/off-volume switch on my 08 Accord needs to be replaced because the push button on/off action is faulty. It has a 3PA1 faceplate, 6 cd changer. I can remove the stereo after watching an online video but before I do that can someone tell me if the switch is replaceable or do I have to replace the whole faceplate? Thanks in advance.

This "HAF help/suggestions" area is for questions about the website, not questions about fixing your car.

I'm going to move this over to A/V Electronics where you're more likely to get someone to help.

It's the tuner assembly you want to replace

I tried Googling Honda tsb 06-001 but didn't find anything except a site that wanted to know what dealer I represented.

So how do I get to the tsb? Advice will be appreciated.

By the way, if all it is going to tell me is to take it in for repair, that is not what I am after.

I would like to know how, if possible, to remove and replace the power/volume switch without replacing the entire faceplate if that is possible. It seems ridiculous to have to replace the faceplate with all the switches and controls when all that needs replacing is the power/volume switch.

Yes it is a tsb for repair. Honda radios have been the same way since 03. You have to replace the plate assembly unless you are good at taking things apart and soldering. The hardest part I find with repairing is finding the replacement parts for there radios. Most of the time it's not the button that is the issue. It is the board.

I just repaired my navigation and it took me a month to find the correct ribbon for the DVD player and board that needed to be replaced for the button not working correctly. I thought the same as you and after I disassembled my radio I got pissed

Its faster to find a part out on eBay. That's what I did for my board because those parts are close hold. Honda and the manufacturer has to make money.

I am pretty certain that the problem is the button. It no longer has the same action that it used to have. It used to take more of a push to turn on the stereo and there was a click that could be felt. Now it takes just a slight touch to turn it off or on and often it happens by accident because the action of the switch is so sensitive.

I ended up ordering a used faceplate on ebay. I hope it solves my problem and I can investigate the switch itself without having the stereo disabled.

Thanks

Ok let us know how it goes.

Did you ever take the button off. It should just be push on to the lightning connector. It looks like you have a 2 part button. The button is easy to pull off with a trim removal tool or flat head. They do sale replacement buttons

yep. took the button off multiple times to see if the shaft of the switch behind it was stuck or whatever. It isn't. Something mechanical in the switch has failed it seems.
