Default New subs

Hey t00fatt havnt posted in a while cause ive actually been pretty happy with my setup for the last while. But, i found a pair of JL 12W3's in a box for sale on kijiji for $250 and was thinking it might be a nice upgrade to buy those and sell my infinities? Understand im not really looking for sheer spl anymore, i want something that can hit hard when i want it to but more importantly sound really nice as well. What do you think about the w3's? What kind of improvement do you think I'd notice? Thanks

If you've got 500w to feed the sub, I would forget about two W3s and get a single 12" W6. It's only like $50-$80 more than what your looking at now and will give you much better sounding bass than two W3, and will be slightly louder as well. From what your saying I would stick with JL subs, they are not the loudest but are arguably the best sounding. The W6 would like closer to 600w, but for now 500w will be fine. Not only that, the W6 will be brand new, while the w3's god knows what they have been through. Personally I don't buy used subs or amps, speakers maybe.

LOL Are you kidding? I would put money down that a single W6 will even be louder, not just only sound better. You will be able to really crank it up without massive distortion.

Now w3's are good subs, but they really aren't anything too great. Forget everything you know about bass, a single sub running at it's rated power will be louder and better sounding than two subs on less than what they are rated for. For just a bit more money you will have a sub that sounds much better, be a scratch louder, take up half the space, and come with JL's warranty. You will regain your trunk space by running a single sub, I would never go back to running two subs. I mean dude the W6 is the sub I want, don't do it yourself and get the W3's.
