Default PAC SWI-ALP Steering wheel interface

I am thinking of installing this steering wheel interface to be able to use my steering wheel controls for my Kenwood headunit. Has anyone not only installed this steering wheel interface or something similiar and modifed it to be able to use the volume up/down buttons as well as the cruise control buttons. I want to disable the cruise control buttons and use them as additional functions for my bluetooth phone functions (answer/hang up) in my HU. If any one has done this or may know how ... please advise.

Thanks.

Did you install this yet? I am curious where people are mounting the IR LED. I was thinking in the headliner pointing down, but that might get tricky.

thanks
