It has 2 voicecoils, 4 Ohms each, 150W RMS each.

Any of the following would power this properly:

-a 2 channel amp, 150W x 2 channels hooked up with 1 channel to each coil
-a mono amp that puts out 300W RMS @ 2 Ohms, most likely rated for 150W at 4 Ohms
(check the signal to noise ratio at the lower resistance though), coils wired in parallel
-a mono amp rated for 300W @ 8 Ohms, coils wired in series, amp most likely rated at 600W @ 4 Ohms.
(This is more expensive, but will decrease S/N)

For what you want, I'd expect that a 10" sub will be the best. Also, most are going to want a box that is sealed and has 0.85-1.0 cu.ft. of volume. A 1.0 cu.ft. sealed box is pretty universal for a single 10". This is a bit larger than ideal volume, but then you have to subtract the volume of the speaker itself (~0.2 cu.ft.), so it's about right.

That Type-S calls for between 50 and 300 watts of power root mean squared (RMS) aka average power at 4 ohms of resistance. So, what we are looking for is an amp that will provide that same range of power while the car is running (~14.4V avg, not 12V). The Alpine MRP-M450 gives out 220W @ 4ohms RMS. Or Alpine makes the MRP-M500 that gives out 300W @ 4ohms RMS. It's really basically number matching.

Also, that sub has dual voil coils, meaning you could power each voil coil with a single amp, but for simplicity's sake you would just use the banana clip connector and use a single sub.

Thanks for that info ^.
I think I got the concept down, but I'm still a little confused.
Here is crutchfield's amp page: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...120&tp=115
I didn't really see anyhting that matched that advice perfeclty (I know it may not be possible to get it perfect.) Anybody want to point me in the right direction? Who makes good amps? If I buy an Alpine sub, should I buy an Alpine amp? If I buy a JL Audio sub, should I buy a JL Audio amp? I see the JL audio amps are pretty dang expensive.....

I'm a big fan of Alpine because they're quality for their popularity.I had a link for the Alpine MRP-M450 for you, but I had to copy/paste something else and forgot. It's in the "Customer Favorite" box at the top for $149.99

Try ikesound.com as well. I and my friends have bought from them as well, just make sure you understand the warranty you are getting.

OK thanks. I have never put much faith in warranties anyway. I have been burned on them before.

Wow! Ikesound is WAAAYYYY cheaper than crutchfield! Are the items from ikesound new? I've been looking around onthere and I see no mention of anything being "used". I was just wondering how they were able to sell the same thing Crutchfield is selling for like 1/2 the price.

They are a small company. They are an unauthorized online reseller, so the warranty is through them and not Alpine. That's the catch.
