Default Prevent HID theft?

I've heard of stories of people stealing HID ballasts and running away with them easily. I'm getting an HID kit and was wondering of a better way to protect it besides praying and a Viper car alarm. I right now have the Viper 791XV and it won't help much since experienced thieves these days can easily smash my window, pop my hood, and steal the two ballasts and run within 1-2 minutes.

My question is, is there something I can do to hide the ballasts somewhere where it can't be seen? Or somehow lock them in place so it won't come out? I've also heard of hoodlocks, but have no idea how they work or how much they are and all. Does the hood lock stay locked if I popthe hood from inside the car while the alarm is on? What's the best and safest place to secure the ballast?

Thanks.

LMAO @ Smaglik

The balists come with brackets that you screw/zip tiesomewhere into the frame. The theif would have to be armed with a screw driver or sicsors. Bury the balasts deep into the frame of the car if your really worried about someone running off with them. Follow this rule, if its difficult for you to put it in, it will be equally as difficult to remove.

if you dont have to access the ballist frequently, you could easily makea box (ormodify something)to cover them. paint andlabel the box "fuses" or something to that manner.

What about hoodpins? I was thinking about something like this:

Btw, I like the idea dan I just might do that. Or I can try to extend the wires to hide the ballast somewhere far away from the headlight housing or something.

dont mean to burst your bubble but those are fake.

but hid ballast have brakets to mount onto the frame. i wouldnt recommend not mounting them. youll most likely be screwing or bolting the ballasts somewhere. even though my ballasts arent hidden it should take more than 1-2 minutes to unbolt. plus if it regular street thieves its not that obvious that you hids unless they followed you around.

you can paint them a mat black thatll blend into the shadows of your engine bay.

yea those pins are fake, they use adhesives to mount. Also i think your going to be ok, no one is going to steal your ballists. I guess if they steal your car, technically they stole your ballists too, but you have nothing to worry about.

Just install them out of sight. I have mine buried under the intake and behind the battery and the other bolted to the bottom of a support beam. If they can't find them they can't steal them.
