Default Replacing the Radio in 05 w/o navigation

I'm not overly impressed with the radio in my 05 Hybrid Accord without Navigation and was considering purchasing a replacement through crutchfield.com.

They have a number of units that will fit, but there are two installation solutions for the vehicle: 1) use a Crutchfield kit (free with most stereos) that replaces the factory pocket in the dash; or 2) purchase an adapter that replaces the factory radio/climate control panel entirely. - Metra OEM Adapter $149.99.

If anyone has replaced their radio in this model year or later I would appreciate hearing about your experience. The Adapter would work but takes the automatic capability away from the heating/cooling system.

Thanks

It has been done many times. Try searching on these and other forums. I would help you further but this is pretty common and you should have no problem finding what your looking for.

Unless you have dual climate control you won't be losing anything with the new dash kit. If you have the money, and don't have or care about dual climate control; you should get the full dash kit. I think it looks pretty stupid with the radio down in the little cubby, and you lose the best storage place in the car.

Also what is it you don't like about the stock headunit? You can always add AUX inputs, or an external amp for better quality, loudness, and you will lose that noise it makes.

Last thing, crutchfield has great service but their prices are the same as local retail stores. I recommend shopping around and find a better price before you buy something from there. I have always bought from other stores and never had any problems. Shopping around especially paid off when I found my 15" CVR Kickers for $100 a piece.

Thanks for your input. I'm not really excited about changing the look of the dash so I'm going to start with new rear speakers. I'm considering Polk DB690's.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

I wouldnt mind loosing look of dash or dual climate control if i was getting something bigger, like a 10.2 inch touch screen that was linked to a carputer that pretty much performed the same function as original carputer.
