Default shift light/shift alert

i was in a friend's subaru sti and he said there's this thing (forgot the name). like he can set it to a certain rpm and whenever he reaches that rpm, the thing starts beeping to let him know. Then he would shift at that point. What is this thing called? And can we install something like this on our accords?
that would be a really cool thing to have

yep, it's called a tachometer... *L* Actually you can buy just a "shift light"

well, im actually more interested in the beeping sound to alert me to shift, rather than having a light
is there anything like that available for accords?

I don't know of any factory made systems but you could easily build one yourself. Just purchase a tachometer (see if you can find a small one) with a shift light, then disconnect the power leads to the light and hook them up to a buzzer (you can find one at radioshack), mount the system under the dash and then you have your buzzer.

wire the clutch switch up with a buzzer.
that way whenever you shift it buzzes so everyone thinks your always dead on.

but seriously some the higher end shiftlights most likely have a beep option.

My Dodge Dakota has a shift light from the factory. I find it extremely annoying; the buzzer would drive me completely insane.

Just my opinion.
