and it could be even mor ethan 800 if you want a bandpass box like i have it is around 1200.00
Lol are you saying a bandpass box costs between $800 and $1200? Are they glassed with kevlar and gold plated? That's a lot to pay for even a custom glassed box, let alone a price to expect to pay for a regular MDF box of any size... Just a sad attempt to show off the price you paid for a box. And if you truly did pay such a price for a custom glass box. Who cares? Learn to glass your self so you don't have to get ripped off for glass work. I have no respect for custom builds where someone had to pay someone to do all the work for them. Whats the point if its only showing how much money you have, and nothing else. Wheres the sense of accomplishment?

^^^ Looks like that one struck a nerve!!! LOL.

My upper limit of about $800 was for a high quality sub in a custom built box. You can drive the price of anything as high as you want, but I am not interested in gold plating. IMHO, a bandpass is a waste of a good sub.

If you are talking about a bass tunnel in a van or something crazy like that, then yeah, the price is going to be rediculous. If you are talking about a box with 4 JL subs .... yeah, high price. Most people are going to have a box with 1 or 2 subs ranging from 8" to 13.5" with under 3 cu. ft. of airspace. These systems aren't going to have custom etched plexi, neon tubes or sound processors either.

You're no fun! I have 24k gold plating on the interior of my box. I was gonna plate it with 18k gold and save some cash money, but I've read from many credible sources that 24k has the best reverb of all. My Accord sounds like 50 Cent playing at Orchestra Hall!

In all seriousness, I paid $80 for a Q-Logic box at Best Buy when I was 15 (don't get me wrong, Q-Logic makes some sturdy boxes), but a few years later I manned up and dropped a whopping $30 on a 4'x8' sheet of 3/4" MDF, a box of 1-5/8" square drive decking screws and black automotive carpet at Menard's and built a 1.3 cu ft. (each sub) sealed box myself and the increase in SQL was amazing.

These kind of posts do wonders for your reputation as far as credibility are concerned. You should try to not contradict yourself.

I love the call on $534. Dig up a receipt or do you just have photographic memory? Sounds like all you know is how to call out numbers. Why would you say a box like yours would cost you $1200 to build, then say you paid only $534 to build it? Because the numbers are irrelevant you just want people to hear you. What makes it all the more ridiculous is this grand daddy of a box is a bandpass. Well if your not into DB drags (even then), only a fool who goes to best buy and sees a bandpass box with plexiglas and some neons they think they're bad *** boxes. Hence my conclusion your a mere child thinking a bandpass box is cool, and can be decked out with pointless astetics costing up to $1200. Spending that much money on any box is not for sound improvment, its only for looks. Which in my books is childs play.
