Using a factory stereo with amp

Hello, I have a 2003 Honda accord ex and I was just wanting to know if it is possible to hook up a amp and subwoofers to the factory unit? I don't want to do anything big just a small amp and subwoofers to blast my county music. I have hooked amps before on factory units by running the power straight to the battery with a toggle switch next to my seat to turn it on and off, lol. (Rigging stuff up). But if this is possible please share your information with me with a quick rundown. Thanks

you don't need the toggle switch these days - we use line output converters (LOC) with an auto turn-on feature (like home sub amps). the Audio Control LC2i is the more popular solution and includes bass restoration and auto turn-on.

you'll still run power wire fused at the battery and route through the fire wall (with a grommet). you'll need to tap the rear speakers for the signal to the LOC.

that's pretty much it. tap the power wire for LOC power or run an ignition wire for the LOC (to ensure it shuts off).

it's compatible with any amp and sub combo you want.

the optional dash level control remote would be a nice addition so you can control the level of the sub without having to use the fader.

note that by tapping the rear speakers, the fader will affect the sub signal. fade to front and the sub signal gets weaker.
