Lightbulb My '98 5th gen Accord 1.8i (European market)

HI to all Honda drivers, I'm from Croatia (southeastern Europe) and this is my second car in life, I drive it 4 years (from 2007 till now)...

Nothing special, just 4cyl, 1.8i SOHC, (115HP), manual transmission, 1340kg / 3000 lbs (too heavy but what I can do...) to me is important that it don't have any breakdown, and I'm lucky, no serious problem in this 4 years. I love it, feeling is almost like driving Prelude 5 gen (BB9)

So... This is my story:
I'll post pics chronological.

I bought it 25 april 2007 and this is my first pictures...

-and then came first mod: from this: haha

-to this: (it's same noname ''sport'' exhaust...)

...and it was to loud to me so I sell it and just put a ''decoration'' (inox/chrom) on original exhaust and I'm satisfied now : - )

-after couple months (6 Aug. 2007) I invest pretty lot of money (20% of car cost) in LPG installation (LPG gas is 50-70% cheaper then petrol)

Here is some funny pics to explain...

trunk

control [to choose automatic switching or manual between fuel source] (location is in ashtray)

-then (4 Sep. 2007) I obtained (bought) same used rims whit tires (don't have any money for something new/better)

In the meanwhile I paint a brake caliper in red

-I change tires (from 205/45R16 that came with rims, to 205/55R16

-long time I nothing change (lack of money) so... more pics

My Accord and friend's Civic:

My Honda and Dad's Mazda :-}

Now I will pause my story and continue later...

Greeting from Croatia!

Nice story. I understand how it is with money. There is never enough of it. But what ever you can do to make your car unique is good. Like the way the Accord looks compared to the US version.

Yes... (half my payment goes to petrol/LPG gas)
Yes, but 5gen Accord for US market is very similar, tail lights is different (Euro version looks better) and for example - 7 gen Euro Accord is
an Acura TSX in the US, and the US Accord is known in Asia as Honda Inspire. It's confusing...

EDIT: story resume:

*after winter, I sold 16'' rims and (on 15 march 2008) bought another used (again) 17'' with used tires (again) [lack of money] what to say, anyway, I was very happy, because it
fit perfect (in my crazy mind, some guys maybe don't like rims like this, but I don't think about that, I love it and to me - that is important

Here it is

Other friend's Civic HB and my precious

*my first Honda meet (12 april 2008)

-the same friend Civic + my Accord on meet + other Hondas:

One short video... (June 2010)
YouTube - My Accord '98 rollin'.Flv

OK, next mod was window tinting : - )
I didn't want it so black, but guy who does a job obviously put film that
he had, not that I want (I ask for 20-30%)... it was in June 2010 and now
I thinking about to put them down... I don't know yet...

Here is short video to see how is it from inside

-meanwhile, I test top speed on highway

Thx

I forgot to note that I bought this (already old) car - with 7 year credit + some cash, can't believe what huge difference is here and in US... f*** car cost me $11000 without rims and other mods, and in US that would be max about $1000 does not? Euro to Dollar currency exchange rate today

a 98 Accord would go for about $3-4,000 or so here in the states.

To me the thing I don't get is why Honda changed the Accord for European markets but not any other car. All the cars you posted from your Honda meets are the same as what we have here except the Accord.

How do police respond to modified cars in your country? I know here in the states it varies a lot from state to state but your window tinting would be illegal in almost every state. Here you can't tint the front windows only the back ones, and not that dark.

Oh, $3-4,000, OK, but that is again - 3 times cheaper then here, and payments in the US is much much higher, and when I remember the fuel cost, it makes me cry, and new law brings that prices can change every f*** day, now is 1 liter $2, that means that I spend 60-70% of my payment just for fuel

I thought that here in Europe all Hondas have different design... hm...
-see this, this is 6gen civic (made in U.K.) - it looks like this (not my favorite from behind)
[my friend have it - 1.4is]

-front:

-there is also a wagon version (with VTi B18C4 - 180HP)

Well, true, any tints at front windows is very illegal, I have it 1 year and many times police saw me but they not bother me, only if I speeding or bad behavior
-last saturday I renewed my license plates (1 time at year, cost me $550) and in friday I removed tints from front windows
-I'm lazy to again put new tints, and maybe I remove all tints, don't know yet...

-spoilers is also illegal, lowering without certificate, too loud exhaust, engine swaps, too big rims, etc...

-long time was no any problem if someone ''tuned'' (yeah right) like this:

or like this:

or like this:

or like this 7gen Accord:

-but in last 1-2 years police impound cars like that, and I agree with that, because that is cheap plastic that may became dangerous on roads...
