Black Leather Seats
Hello All!
Recently purchased a 2004 Accord EXL w/black leather seats. The interior of the car had a strong chemical smell. I wiped down the seats with windex, it turned the rags black! Apparently the dealer used some kind of black polish (shoe polish???) on the seats...is that normal?
Should I thoroughly clean all this black polish off the seats, and if I do, what's the best thing to use to then re-treat the seats & protect them?
Thanks!

Interesting...I wouldn't use shoe polish on seats. Go pick up a bottle of Lexol cleaner and conditioner and treat the seats and you should be good to go unless you want to get into more expensive leather treatments, those work great for every day vehicles though.
Also...don't use windex...ever...on the seats, use the lexol.

Oh for my newer model the seat leather is a bit firm, I used saddle soap on old leather before, I may try a bit on the rear center head rest to see what it does on my car. I know it will darken things a wee bit for a while, but what the hell it is black.
Remindes me of me ol Hacky Sack break in days.

Leather Care Rundown
Hi, I decided to use a leather product designed for proper up keep for all kinds of leather. As my first impression was to soften the factory leather for Honda Accords.
There is one catch with Saddle Soap... it takes a good deal to work in and does make the leather discolored.
Here is a link from a forum about leather conditioners and cleaners...

I am going to use one of the recommended ones for conditioning leather for now.
Enjoy the information, it is pretty good actually!
