Default Faded Clearcoat?

On the top of my Accord, the clearcoat is pretty faded in some spots.. but I've seen some cars where you can actually see it literally PEELING.. while mine just is a milky white area. When it's wet (rain/washing, or even lick my finger and swipe it..) it turns green, the color of the car. Does this mean I could possibly restore it somehow? If it were just worn away to the primer, it wouldnt turn dark green and look as if there's no problem would it?

Any input is appreciated.. it's pretty much the main 'problem area' as far as paint, so it would be awesome if I could somehow restore it.

Also, the roof and hood have scratches that I don't see how they got there, they kind of look like swirl marks you'd get while washing and there's dirt in a sponge, etc.. except they are perfectly consistent, and take up a HUGE area.. looks like very fine sandpaper did it.. but impossible by hand it seems, since it's so huge and perfect.

Any help on that would be great too, I want to get this car looking great.

Give this a try, it may help and isn't expensive. If the clearcoat/paint is failing you will have to reapply often (assuming it works in the first place) to keep the fading at a minimum. If it does peel down the road a repaint is your only recourse.

Another possibility is here: http://www.wetpaintglaze.com/index.html
See video at the bottom of the opening page then look for the faded 1/2 hood done with the product on another page.

If any local places have that ColorX I will pick up a bottle, I was already planning on buying some of the Wet Paint also.

What size of Wet Paint did you buy?

I get it by the case but the Combo Pak will be perfect for you. Meguiar's Color X should be readily available.

I found 'Scratch X' at WalMart.. but didn't have a chance to check AutoZone and such.. I will ASAP, but if not.. I'll order some online with my 303 from AutoGeek

Is Color X better than Scratch X?

Either one is better than nothing but I think Color X might work better for you. Doing things by hand won't make the surface perfect but you can make it look 100% better than now with some hard work.

But you did say that If I already am ordering Wet Paint, not to worry with using the Color X or Scratch X?

You're correct, I had forgotten about that. Use the WP before spending money on anything else, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the outcome. Watch the video yet? It's worthwhile.

You can pick up the Meguires product at AutoZone or even Walgreens Drug Stores...
