Dang, that looks like you just cleaned it to me! I dont know if I would ever clean my engine. To nervous about spraying a stream of water all over the engine.

Spray some degreaser on it then blast it off at the car wash. Have a can of WD40 with you. In case it won't start spray WD40 inside the distributor cap and fire it up. In 40 yearsof doing thisI've only had two no starts (both with distributors)and the WD40 worked both times. Once it's dry go to Auto Zone, get a can of CD2 engine detailer & spray it down.......everything. Crank the engine and drive a bit to build some heat. Once complete wipe off any runs. It will look better than new. I have my own pressure washer and charge $45 for this.

Or just get some engine cleaner- warm the car up, spray it with foaming engine cleaner and scrub the tough spots. Then let it sit, hose it down, then spray foaming tire cleaner all over and drive your car around. Then open your bay and look

RtexasF is there a more detailed "DIY" for the engine detailing. Picture or video would help. Some visual such as circling the area safe for spraying..hosing..with the degreaser and CD2.
