Default 06 Accord Spark Plugs

Hey guys,

New to the fourm and I tried searching but got no results.

My brother has an 06 Accord 4cyl, 5 speed. Manual does not give intervals to change the spark plugs. Was going to do them quickly this past weekend and AutoZone told me that this model has iridium plugs which are good for 100K.

Is this true? Should I wait until 100K miles? Autozone wanted like $15 a plug or something crazy like that. What is the best brand to get when the time comes to change them?

Thanks.

yup ... 100k

Denso or NGK. Iridium or Double Plat. are the best.

Lol, I got DENSO Iridium equivalents just waiting to be popped in. I got 97k and change on my beast.

I opened up the spark plug cover just for fun, but I can't remove the two big bolts....kinda irritated me. allen wrench? like the bolt is really deep in there and quite lengthy.

^^^ I hope they're not Bosch-like equivalents. Bosch plugs have the wrong resistance for Honda coils and kill them. I wouldn't use anything but Denso or NGK because those are the only 2 that are well-known not to kill the coil. A dead coil will cost more than the savings by using an off brand plug.

I see ..... aren't IK20's a step colder? I vaguely remember mine being IK16's .... or that I was debating between the 2.

honestly, i have no idea. the guy said they were compatible and gave me a good price so i jumped on it. it ended being 45$ for a complete set. if you are right, i'll just sell them. some guy on k20a was selling $40 a PIECE.

EDIT- DENSO recommends the ik20 for the 7th gen accord: http://www.densoiridium.com/find_part.php

whew....i thought i was screwed for a second. but i have a question....how do you remove the two long bolts????

Mine were just an allen key, but that was 6th gen. FYI, 1 step colder would have been fine also.
