My new '07 4cyl Accord has less than 1000 miles on it. When I am sitting at a red light, the engine idles at about 600 RPM. It sounds like a Huey helicopter. There is a noticable vibration in the cabin. This is the first 4cyl I have owned, and this engine has a timing chain instead of a belt. I am not sure if this is a typical noise for this drivetrain. I sat in another guy's 07 4cyl and it was smooth. Anyone having similar issues? Could it be valve clatter?

Sorry my 4cyl idles smooth. Maybe take it back to the dealer and tell them the problem. Its still gotta be under warntee. Whatever it is you should still be covered. Also Allow me to commend you on only one typo

 

Our '03 4-cyl is very smooth. Your description makes me think of exhaust manifold gasket leak rather than valves, but your car istoo new for any of that to be normal.

You should go make a warranty claim.

 

my 04 coupe 4 banger is smooth... so smooth that sometimes it feels like it shuts off in full stops... go get it checked out... Honda should fix it...

I can say that I am the complete opposite. 97 4cylaccord does that and 2003 accord 4cyl does that as well (but only when it turns on a fan or is doing more work)... never really thought an issue of it!

Mine is smooth as ice even with all my aftermarket mods. No audible cabin sound until I punch it WOT.

 

03 i used to not be able to hear my car inside but now that i have a exhaust... but i can tell ya i get ALOT of valve tick... and well its just a little normal... anyway its warranty work let some tech deal with it

 

Hmm....makes me wary of getting my catback.
