1-2-D3-D4. AND DOWNSHIFTING!!!! WOO!
is this bad for my car?
i go from gear 1 to 5000rpms then to gear 2, then to 5000 rpms then D3 and so on... Sometimes i downshift to like 3500rpms between 3rd and 2nd gear. is this alright for my car? its a V6, old tranny, 163000 miles. its an auto hehe;) |
RE: 1-2-D3-D4. AND DOWNSHIFTING!!!! WOO!
Just let it shift itself.

RE: 1-2-D3-D4. AND DOWNSHIFTING!!!! WOO!
^ Agreed.
We had this conversion earlier in the year (search around) about whether the clutch packs (since you have an Auto) can take it. It can take it...just don't abuse it. But one thing is certain: Just get a manual! |
RE: 1-2-D3-D4. AND DOWNSHIFTING!!!! WOO!
agreed. manual is the better route for that...can take more abuse, and is typically easier / cheaper to fix when it breaks.

dont do that driving around town... racing only... bleh

RE: 1-2-D3-D4. AND DOWNSHIFTING!!!! WOO!
Don't abuse it or you'll lose it(referringtoyour transmission)

RE: 1-2-D3-D4. AND DOWNSHIFTING!!!! WOO!
Even when racing...I don't go from 1-2-3-D5.
If I feel that the engine isnt kicking enough...the most I do is the shift to D3 (locks it in 3rd) and then it revs past fourth (the most useless gear in the WORLD) into fifth. I don't touch 1-2....unless I'm up against a worthy opponent (audi, bmw, integra (rsx), tsx, tl, etc.) |
RE: 1-2-D3-D4. AND DOWNSHIFTING!!!! WOO!
no american cars are deemed 'worthy'?
|
RE: 1-2-D3-D4. AND DOWNSHIFTING!!!! WOO!
well since a ur entire list of cars WAXES us... they arent "worthy" they are ur butthole hurts in the morning...
go 1 2 3 4 always shift the lever before ur redline dont let it over rev... it will let u use all ur RPMs instead of limiting them and 03 u dont know about the older accords apparently... for u to redline 1st and 2nd u have to downshift to 1 and 2... |
RE: 1-2-D3-D4. AND DOWNSHIFTING!!!! WOO!
