Default 2002 Accord EX fast/cheap mods

Hi everybody, I just bought a 2002 Accord EX 4dr this week, and I'm already itching to upgrade it somehow. I'm a complete noob, but I'm a pretty handy guy, so I'm looking for some advice on how to improve my new buy in terms of hp, gas mileage, or just plain performance. I'm not looking to spend thousands, so I'm looking for a good blend of performance vs price. I've read about some mods involving intake and exhaust.... so I'm thinking this would be a good first step... but then again you guys are the experts. Any suggestions?

^ so what you're saying is that you'll sacrafice reliability for cheap and fast performance mods?
If so then look on ebay, they have some performance mods for cheap, ocassionally you'll find some brand named stuff for cheap also, but used and the condition of it is not that great.

No.... let me clarify. I want new stuff, and I certainly would rather go with a reliable top brand then something cheap. If I am going to make any modifications, I want to do it right. My question is this: What mods will warrant the best results, without getting into really expensive stuff? (more than $1000)

well depending on whether your car is a 4 banger or a v6, the 4 banger mods will cost less than the v6. If you want the best bang for your buck and you have a 4 banger, go turbo. With a v6, get headers, intake, pullies, and exhaust; < those are your basics. You dont want to supercharge your accord since our trannies are problematic on the v6 accords 1998-2004.
Oh and with the basics on the v6, you're looking to spend about roughly around 1300-1400 depending on the whether you bought brand named products or not (this is roughly around what I spent just on performance).

I've got the 4-cyl... so I'll definetly look into turbo. How much will an sri and an exhaust system affect performance? I also read about possibly replacing the throttle body? Is it worth it?

^ nope. I threw out the idea of going turbo because it will yield the most performance out of the basic mods, but it'll cost more than what you would want to spend. You're looking about 4k+ with everything, turbo, tuning, misc

Thanks for the link.... I'll be honest, most of that stuff seems way over my head, but it's definitely something I'm gonna start reading up on. Thanks.
