Default 2004 HondaAcc EX CEL - Oxygen Sensor

I carried my 2004 Honda Acc EX for the 60,000 mile service. Everything checked "good"; at a cost of over $500. The next day the CEL came on. I carried it to AutoZone to get a "code" message: "The PCM has determined a malfunction exdists in the heater circuit for oxygen sensor 2 in bank 1." I have never had the CEL on before I carried it in for the 60,000 service. We have no local Honda dealer and I go 2 hours for service. Any suggestions? Mississippi Girl -

That should have been P0141, right? It's ALWAYS best to get the actual code number.

I think the plug for that rear O2 sensor is inside the car, somewhere under the carpeting under the front passenger seat. Unplug it & test with a multi-meter. Measure resistance between the 2 same-color (black?) wires. Should be 10 ohms or so, a failed sensor would read open-circuit.

If you're lucky, its a loose connection, dirty/corroded plug, or something like that which you can clean up. Otherwise, you replace the sensor from underneath the car. A normal repair shop should be able to handle this, if you don't want to do it yourself or take it to the dealer.

If your local shop finds something like a cut wire that you can actually blame on the dealer, then maybe you can call them & see what they will do about it. Otherwise, I'd say its a coincidence.
