I bought a used 2003 Accord LX about 2 months ago (had 37,000 miles on it). Yes, I am a treehugger and do everything in my capacity to get that last yard out of my gas. Nothing great has happened in the first month after I bought it but after a 600 mile trip last week, I noticed my gas mileage spike to 37.1 miles/gallon. It is rated at 33 for highway driving. That is 12% more than the rated number. I am thrilled but I am also skeptical. Am I the only one or is there someone out there getting similar results??

 

Once you start cruising and you don't have a heavy foot like me....honda's efficiency is mind-blowing. I've gotten up to 35 mpg...but 37? That's awesome!

 

During the first 120k miles or so with my 99 Accord I would get about 34mpg on Hwy trips if i kept the speed around 68mph and the cruise control on.. since then gas mileage has gone down a bit..

 

35-40 MPH with a average speed of over 85 MPH on a 1200 mile trip... Our weaker Vtec alows for amazing gas mileage... if we had a smaller displacement it would be over 40 easily

 

It's doable.My personal best was 37.9 mpg, I was trying for best mileage and beingultra conservative.

 

I've pulled of 35MPG on a 220 mile roadtrip in my 94...

 

same here i bought my 94 5speed from my uncle and drove it from tuscon arizona back to indiana and i think we were averaging like 36-37 and i drove it back last summer

 

I've gotten as high as 39 while moving my daughter to/from her co-op job. It'scloser to 30 during normal day-to-day driving.

 

theres probably a thing or two i can learn on driving from u Mr. Blake!! i mean it!!

 

Nothing magic, just one time driving that trip, the weather was nice, and there wasplenty of speed traps(cops wereEVERYWHERE). So a nice constant 65mph for 500 miles without stopping. Switch off the testosterone, sit back & relax even when the traffic goes down to 60 or 55.

If there wasn't 400 pounds of my daughter's junk in the car I bet it would have broke 40mpg.

Mine's a 5-speed, which should do better than an auto. Don't know which type you have...
