Default '94 Accord Sedan: Gas pedal has no punch

Hi

Test drove a '94 Honda Accord Sedan with 188k miles for $2k, owned by mechanic friend of sis. When pressing the gas pedal it seemed a bit mushy, no punch, like I had to press it an inch before getting any response. Then to get up to speed limit (45) with other cars I almost had to floor it.

My sis has a 96 Accord and it runs real smooth, hardly have to touch the gas and it picks up speed.

What do these symptoms indicate? Need of a tuneup, fuel pump problem, transmission faulty?

I'd appreciate any ideas, tips, suggestions.

Could be some or all of what you said?

Was the CEL light on? Was the D4 light staying on? Ask for a compression test, waht are the results of that.
