Default Another guy with bad gas mileage!

I know this has probably been asked a thousand times before, but I am hopeing someone who is familar with this car can help me out here. I own a 92 Accord 4 cyl. 5 spd. manual with 137000 mi. on it. The max mpg I have been able to get out of it is 25. Am I expecting too much to want to get at least 30 mpg from this car? I do mostly city driveing with some highway. I have changed the plugs, cap and rotor, cleaned the air filter, ( it is an aftermarket high flow air filter the last guy who owned it put on), and checked for any brake pads sticking. I am kind of frustrated as I bought this car for the sole purpose of getting better mileage than my 6cyl toyota 4runner and I am getting about the same mpg! Thanks in advance for any help. P.S. I have no chk engine light problems and the car seems to idle and run o.k. except it steers alot harder than any small car I have ever owned, like the power steering is very weak.

For a 20 year old car to continue to operate at 25MPG is excellent. Continue doing what you've been doing, but don't expect it to get any more than 25MPG....trying to squeeze another 2-3 MPG's can eventually hurt the engine - if it's running smooth, no oil leaks, etc., then be glad you still have it on the road & will be a classic in another 20 years.

yes tire pressure can have a lot to do with it, this might sound weird also, but do you have alot of extra stuff in the car or the trunk? extra weight can be a factor. like he said above... a 20 year old accord getting that good of fuel mileage and running fine is a blessing.
