anti-after burn valve
My '88 Accord needs an "anti-after burn valve"! Any help wanted. It is needed for CA emissions. This nomenclature is from the factory service manual, page 11-2, 11-66, & 11-104. My mechanic has blocked off the port, and the car runs fine, but it won't pass emission test. I have until the end of Sept.2012. A working used one would suffice.

Engines of this era had a "anti-dieseling" solenoid that closed on key-off to allow throttle plate to close completely. This prevented key-off engine running (dieseling). If solenoid is defective, the throttle plate will not open and engine will not idle.
good luck
good luck
the threads I read said it was a valve that bled air past the throttle plate on deceleration to prevent popping.
I read a few threads as I had never heard of such a valve and this was one of the more informative ones.

Sadly I would think that finding those parts is getting harder and harder.
Between the "Cash for Clunkers" program and scrap metal being so high too many of our perfectly good older cars are gone now.
There is a moderator or two on this board that have experience with the older Hondas and hopefully they will chime in with some info your you.
Do you have a part #?

The anti after burn valve is used to keep the throtel plate from closing to fast on decel If the plate snaps shut fuel is pulled over the vent and into carb and will cause a rich condition The car will run ok with out it but cal IM test can be a pain Can a junk yard be of any help?
