Hey all, I'm thinking of a complete engine and trans swap. Setup now: f22b1 4-speed Auto. Desired: H22a 5-speed manual. I can get engine+trans+mounts+driveshaft. ect. for $2300. Any labor $$$ estimates? and what else do I need for this tranny swap? peddals, linkages? thanx.

ps: will the swap even be worth the time and money?

 

The swap will be worth the money if you want 200 hp and a stick. Your gonna need the pedal set up, clutch master cylinder, shift linkages, ecu, sensors, etc. I think that it is worth it but depending on the shop, you could be looking at around a grand for labor; I think that is a high figure and maybe someone who has done it could say otherwise but it is a pretty involved process especially when the car is going from auto to manual.

 

Thanx for the info. Will I have to change out my gauge cluster? Or is it optional. Im savin up for it now. I also called AAMCO transmissions, (out the door expensive!) $2500 just in labor. thats with me supplying the parts. But, thats a corp. I also know a family shop, havn't called them yet.

PS: CRAP! I found a crack in the top of my radiator. there goes another $200-$250. Should I buy a single core or dual core radiator (tasauto.com) Labor=$100 Single=$116.00 Dual=168.00

 

I don't know on the radiator for sure.... but what I can tell you is that it's easy to change, do the radiator job yourself... don't forget your motor mounts when you go to install the h22a....

I won't e-mail it but I'll post it *L* here's the instrucitons from my 94, should be nearly identical, if you have a digital camera keep it handy, if you run into a snag you can post pictures of what's holding you up and get more help....
