RE: Crankshaft Pulley Bolt Removal - Ideas???
I finally got it done.....my way. It happened last Saturday after I was getting frustrated with that little bolt.
I took off the fly wheel inspection cover and shifter linkage cover. Put on a huge set of locking pliers/vice grips on the fly wheel and locked them in the hold direction. Put on the 19mm socket (1/2" size) on the crank bolt, added 20 inches of extentions, balanced that on a jack stand, put on a 2 foot breaker bar, then I slid my jack's handle over the breaker bar and put a 4 foot bar in the other end....... So I'm like 5 feet from the car's front end and I push down on this extended breaker bar and I hear this huge "SNAP"......I thought I broke the socket....so I look at it and it's fine...put my fingers on the crank bolt and it spins off!!!!!! YEAHHHHH Now that was fun....anyway.......8 hrs later and I have to put it back on at 180 foot lbs......my wife helped this time by holding the vice grips.....it was pretty funny as I cranked down and I see her slide under the car on her asss......I say please brace your self...... Thanks alot....I'll have a more detailed explaination sometime.... |

*ROFL* I've done that before on an old citation.... it's amazing that even once you get it held so you can brake it free you're a long ways away from the car and just hoping that it doesn't slip off.... glad you got it off

u can use a breaker bar...lodge it on the floor with the handle facing front of ur car. it will come right off.
