Default engine go boom

how much is a new block for a 1996 civic?
my friend was showing off doing a burn out, and a rod went through the block apparently, and it cought on fire.
she wants me to try to find out, so i figured i would ask u guys.

Check junkyards... not that difficult to find a used block. And tell her to go to idiot school.

If she's not doing the work herself, junk the car.

X2 ..... there's going to be more to do than just the engine .... replace all rubber hoses, all fluids ..... any reservoirs that burned.

The engine alone is cheap though D16's and D17's are very plentiful. Better off throwing in a B16 or B18 while she needs a new motor ..... but I'd recommend getting a new car as well

you can get a whole motor for less than a grand(some as low as $500) as its not really a high performance motor that everyone wants.

supposidly she was at 8000 rpm, or so she says. i told her to go to "idiot school". i just used less kind wording.

Redline is at 6900 rpms. Fuel cutoff should have been around 7200. That engine is known for weak rods ..... they snap at 220 HP.

idk what she was thinking, her engine was pretty built too. its all garbage now.

If her engine was built it wouldn't have thrown a rod. Bolt ons and half-a$$ed builds would be expected to take a dump if you stress them past their design.

I have no sympathy
