Getting 50 hp w/o turbo

Ok here is the deal, I have an 2000 Honda accord Ex 4cyl (F23). My goal is to reach 200 hp with out turbo.
So far i have thought of this checklist but i need help from expirenced people to let me know what will get me to my goal.
so here is my plan let me know if it will work
1. AEM intake
2. DC sport Headers
3. Tanebe Exhaust Catback
4. High flow Cat
5. Pully kit
6 Performance Cams
7. Cam Gears
8. Spark Plugs ( for response)
9. Port and Polish

please input and let me know what you think if any one has suggestions let me know.

you should get close with those bolt ons and the right cams.

do you mean to the wheel or to the crank? If it is to the crank, you'll reach somewhere close, but to the wheel, the odds are set against you.

the only way i see it is if you upgrade the valve train and get some very aggressive cams along with the other mods, but you can kiss your gas mileage good bye

A good port job along with the other stuff listed will give it the potential. An increase in compression would be a good help also. You're going to need something to tune it with.

Yeah bump it up to an 11:1 compression and either resleeve and go to a about a 90mm bore or just bore it out to 87mm to match the h series then youre open to using h series pistons without having to pay extra for custom.

But a 90mm bore will take you to about 2470cc. But either way you will want a fuel managment system to help you hit that mark

im sorry, but i know this is your goal, but i dont think its a very feasible one at all. just to get it to spec to a H22 is gonna cost you an assload of sponduli. even then it still might not be as good or reliable. if you want an all motor beast, its better to have a good base. SOHC is ok, but DOHC is just better for all motor. overall that is. your motor just doesnt have as much potential as a higher-end motor, id hate to see you waste your time and money.

Dude that look like you gonna spend more than the turbo kit you can buy. Are you sure you wanna do this instead of just getting a straight up turbo?

12:1 or higher compression
Cam
Tuning
Good header, 2.5" exhaust

Should get you there. A guy on honda-tech push RSX pistons in his F23 and it came out to around 11.7:1 compression and like 170+ hp. Not sure if thats before or after tuning though.

You can get 50 hp w/o turbo easy.

One word. Two syllables.

Super-Charge.

RE: Getting 50 hp w/o turbo

still forced induction only far more expensive then a turbo

i think the most you can get out of an f23/22 is just under 200chp with a lot of work, the only other option is a 2400lb prelude with a f23block and h22 head and a ton of tuning and you can get just under 200whp

turbocharged and supercharged are both forms of forced induction. and the price is about the same, says my boy who just supercharged his h22 5th gen.

must of had a great deal then, i havent seen a supercharger go less then 3k by itself considering you can turbo a car for half that

RE: Getting 50 hp w/o turbo

High Compression Pistons
Bigger Throttle Body... 70mm
Intake Manifold
Skunk 2 Stage 3 Cams with proper valvetrain
AEM Cam Gear
AEM Fuel Rail and Pressure Regulator
Bore
Headers and Exhaust
Intake
Pulleys

That would be good enough.

I made it on a f22a4

I'd like to know where you got Skunk2 cams for your F22 since they dont' make any for that motor.

mck52689 07-27-2007 10:55 PM

RE: Getting 50 hp w/o turbo

if you call the skunk company you can have them custom made for a f22a1,4,and 6 for a decent amount.... stage 1 and 2 run the same amount stage 3 will run around 985.00

Or, you can wait till I'm done with my F23A4 build too... est. 1 more month. Custom Regrind from WebCam, Head Work ( for flow and higher compression), stock bottom end, AEM Intake, Fuel and Cam Gear, Underdrive Crank Pulley, Headers, Exhaust and possibly a Skunk2 Throttle Body all tuned by P28 Hondata, similar to what "mck52689" did, nice job by the way! Hopefully the H series manual trans. & racing clutch help the numbers at the wheel too. I'll enjoy this while I rebuild the original F23A1 with a turbo, it should be decent but I agree, 200HP is pushing it without nitrous or turbo kit.

TY VtecHex, its way better to build an accord up instead of buying one like that.... im impressed with yours.... I think it is better if you can make a sohc faster than a dohc, thats why i wanan do that.... i had a civic and i did that and got the number up higher. I would like to turbo mine but with high compression i could only run low amounts of boost. but I hope your project goes good also

RE: Getting 50 hp w/o turbo

One of these days when I have some extra cash (did I mention I'm married....so yeah...) I want to pull my motor and do a mean build on it, but I'm planning on 10-15k into the engine alone to make it one mean beast.... I think it's going to be a 2 year build.... The sad thing is that I'll never get any of that money back out of it...

sure you will get money out of it (honda's are magic)! the pistons are just warming up at 200k.
