@Crispin- howd you get 36 mpg? I've been struggling with mine, trying to get it up there but I'm averaging around 26 with mostly city driving. Highway I get about 31/32.
I was thinking about a Diesel golf. I like golfs but I hear they have electrical issues and on top of that, german parts are expensive to fix and its a whole different world.
I know its not good to stay in ones comfort zone but I like looking under the hood of a honda and know exactly what I'm dealing with.
What about the Accord Si? Is it worth looking for one. I know they're floating around the country somewhere.

Mr Ricer.

Well for one thing I live in the country. Like far out in the country. The closest traffic light is apx 26 miles from my house.

My car is in good tune, I keep the tire pressure in my tires set, and we drive the car easy.

Even if you had a Diesel Golf (which btw is not a hard car to work on) you would not get much better MPG then you get now. Starting and stopping kills MPG's.

My girlfriend drives the honda to work. She leaves the house. 2 miles later is a stop sign, then 24 miles after that is the first traffic light which is also where she works at so it is a non-stop trip. Really helps the MPG's

Yeah, unfortunately I live in a city with hills and traffic lights all over.
