Hi guys,

I have a 2001 Accord Ex 4cyl, and currently have 238,000 miles on it. Car is running fine as usual. I wanted to know would it be a safe choice to start using mid-grade gas? I'm just curious to know if this would help or hurt. I currently use regualr unleaded of course..

 

Why spend more money on fuel when regular has worked just fine for 238,000 miles????????? [sm=interesting.gif][sm=interesting.gif] I don't get it!

No reason to switch considering the car is made to run on 87 octane. Read the manual man!

 

... and read the octane specifications.

If you want to spend $1 - $2 more at the pump, then do so. Otherwise, getting 89 doesn't really do anything for your car. Same with 92 octane, as that is intended for high compression engines around 11:1 and your Accord has 9:1.

 

When my engine is putting out twice the power that it came with and DOESN'T knock, I'll accept the extra $1-2 at the pump.
